My name is Stephanie Diederich, and I am a lime.
I am an artist the way a lime is a fruit. There are many types of fruit, and several kinds of citrus. So why identify with a lime?
Why choose a lime, over say, an apple? Like apples, many artists think well within a box. I am not an apple in that I can play different roles - photographer, graphic designer, illustrator, pre-press print specialist, to name a few.
Why not another citrus - say an orange? Limes are versatile. They have the sweetness of an orange with the zest of a lemon - their particular taste makes them a great flavor in many more applications than either oranges or lemons. I can do what many other digital artists can do - I have been using Adobe software since 2001, and drawing since I could pick up a pencil. But I'm unlike other artists in that I have an eye for aesthetics, which I utilize for as many purposes as I can get my hands on. My hands were trained in Virginia Commonwealth University's rigorous Communication Arts program. My eye is my own.
Why is a lime my first pick? Limes are the perfect flavor. From the first sip of your drink to your last bite of dessert, a lime can bring someting different to each course. I chose a lime because I like limes - I think they're a vastly underrated fruit. Don't agree? Shoot an email to stephaniediederich@gmail.com with "Limes Are Overrated" in the subject line.
